X++-compiler: controleer je code vooraf

Update 10.0.50: Visual Studio 2026 and the X++ compiler

Microsoft has announced support for Visual Studio 2026 and changes to the X++ compiler for version 10.0.50 of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management (F&SCM). What does this mean for your development environment?

Visual Studio 2026: renew your development environment

When moving to Visual Studio 2026, Visual Studio must be updated in existing development environments. You can either update the existing environments or recreate them.

Microsoft considers development environments to be disposable and recommends recreating them. We also recommend creating new development environments. This updates other components at the same time, such as SQL Server and Windows Server. In addition, updating Visual Studio does not always go smoothly.

We would be happy to discuss the best way to move to Visual Studio 2026 as part of your transition to F&SCM 10.0.50.

X++ compiler: review your code in advance

X++ is the programming language used for F&SCM development. With version 10.0.50, Microsoft will introduce several changes to the X++ compiler. When changes like these are introduced, it is important to check that the code remains compatible with the updated compiler.

Microsoft announced these specific changes several years ago, so they should no longer cause issues. Even so, we recommend proactively having the code reviewed for compliance with the upcoming changes. This can help prevent delays when moving to version 10.0.50 or later.
